Novelty teapot in Art Deco “Odeon” style, designed by Ettore Sottsass (one of Italy’s most celebrated contemporary designers) for Ablebest Ltd. of London. Manufactured by P. Hinton and G.Stevens for Ablebest Ltd. in 1971. Fully documented in relief on base of pot. . Height 22 cm. ( This design was pirated by an unknown manufacturer in the early 1980’s. Those reproductions were unmarked on the base and I have seen one such in a blue glaze. (cf. Novelty Teapots - Five Hundred Years of Art and Design by Edward Bramah.
